PPP ADOPTION POLICY

What does vetted mean?

All of our PPP rescues are fully:

  1. Vaccinated

  2. Microchipped

  3. Spayed/Neutered

As a PPP adopter, you will have all of their vet care taken care of so that they can come home and you don't have that worry of taking them right to the vet. We provide all of their tags (microchip/rabies), as well as all of their vet reports/paperwork.

What Else?

All of our PPP pets receive behavior and temperament assessments and continuous notes by our team through their rehab at our rescue. You will receive all of those notes, and will know so much more about the dog you are interested in adopting so there are no surprises with your new family member.

In Person

HOUSE CHECK?

Why We Conduct House Checks Before Adoption

Ensuring the Best Home for Our Animals

At Pyrs, Pits, and Pastures, our top priority is the well-being and safety of the animals in our care. Conducting house checks before finalizing an adoption helps us ensure that each animal is placed in a loving, safe, and suitable home. Here’s why house checks are an essential part of our adoption process:

1. Assessing the Living Environment

House checks allow us to see the potential living conditions for the animal. We look for:

  • Safety: Ensuring there are no hazards that could harm the animal.

  • Space: Confirming there is adequate space for the animal to move, play, and live comfortably.

  • Security: Checking that the home is secure and escape-proof, especially for dogs who might be inclined to explore.

  •

2. Matching the Right Animal to the Right Home

Every animal has unique needs and personalities. House checks help us:

  • Understand Lifestyle: Determine if the potential adopter’s lifestyle is a good fit for the animal.

  • Family Dynamics: Ensure the animal will be comfortable with all family members, including other pets.

  • Special Requirements: Identify any special needs the animal might have and confirm the adopter is prepared to meet them.

  •

3. Providing Guidance and Support

During a house check, we can offer personalized advice on:

  • Animal Care: Tips on how to care for and accommodate the new pet.

  • Training Needs: Guidance on training and behavior to help the animal adjust smoothly.

  • Preparation: Advice on setting up the home and what supplies may be needed.

4. Ensuring a Smooth Transition

House checks help both the adopter and the animal have a successful transition by:

  • Building Trust: Establishing a relationship with the adopter and ensuring they feel supported.

  • Addressing Concerns: Identifying and addressing any potential issues or concerns before the adoption is finalized.

  • Setting Up for Success: Ensuring the animal’s new home is ready, which increases the likelihood of a successful, long-term adoption.

5. Commitment to Responsible Adoption

Our goal is to ensure that every animal is placed in a home where they will be safe, loved, and well cared for. House checks are part of our commitment to responsible adoption practices, helping us prevent:

  • Return or Rehoming: Reducing the chances of the animal being returned or needing to be rehomed.

  • Neglect or Abuse: Ensuring the animal is placed in an environment where they will be treated with kindness and respect.

Your Role in the Process

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in our house check process. It’s a crucial step in making sure that our animals find the perfect match and live their best lives. Your willingness to participate in a house check shows your commitment to providing a loving and safe home.

Thank you for considering adoption through Pyrs, Pits, and Pastures. Together, we can make a lasting difference in the lives of these wonderful animals.
